We’ve found another little beauty of a camping spot up in the beautiful Gympie region - they really bring the goods up that way don’t they?

Imbil Camping Retreat is nestled down off the main road in beautifully maintained grounds on the bank of the Yabba creek. These grounds clearly are loving looked after by Brett & Cheryl who run the pet friendly retreat, the luscious grass and big shady trees (perfect for climbing!) make it such a homely place to set up for a night or few, we have loved our visits there - it’s easy to find your own little oasis around the grounds.

Powered and unpowered sites are available, and the newly built amenities block are always clean with the added bonus of awesome hot showers. The camp kitchen is large and equipped with gas cookers making it a perfect little spot to get brekky done while meeting other like minded campers for a chat too. The property is on the banks of Yabba creek with a swimming hole for the little legends to enjoy, so find yourself a spot on the bank to set up and sit back and relax while the kids create many childhood memories.  One of the most memorable things for the kids will undoubtedly be mud island - they will talk about that for weeks! Take your kayak, stand up paddle board and inflatables to enjoy in the swimming hole and if you don’t have a kayak you can pop into the office to hire one (along with a few other things like outdoor games, spare bikes or even a SUP).  The on site shop is handy with some of the basic things we can tend to forget along with ice and firewood too.

While you’re in the neighbourhood be sure to head into Imbil for a look, a beautiful little country town with all the essentials (like an iconic country pub & a bakery!), Sunday morning markets, and out to Borumba Dam, it’s a great spot to head out with a picnic or to have a fish with the kids. The Mary Valley Country really is a hidden treasure and we have not been disappointed with any of the camping facilities in the region, it really is all about old fashioned family fun up there - just what we love!

We love Imbil for a sneaky night away.  It’s not too far for Sunshine Coast locals, and if you pack lightly you can make the trip and feel like you’ve had time to relax maximising the most of any weekend.

Try it out, find yourself a favourite spot and we guarantee it won’t be your last time visiting this super family friendly beautiful property.
